Setting up a Replacement Car Stereo

There are many cases in which a replacement car stereo is necessary. You may have an old model car with a dinosaur stereo system that might even include an 8-track or cassette tape player. Your car radio may not even include these things depending on your car. Even newer vehicles may require replacement of the audio system if components go bad or if you decide you want a more high tech setup. Luckily installing a replacement car stereo is not that big of a deal and can be done by a professional or on your own if you are a do-it-yourself type of person.

Installing your replacement car stereo yourself can certainly save you money. You only have to pay for parts, not labor. Unless you are experienced in the world of car stereo installation it may be necessary to download instructions from the Internet.

Shopping for 15 inch Car Subwoofers

In basic terms, a subwoofer is a speaker that is designed to reproduce low frequency bass. Some come with their own built in amplifiers, however some people decide to put together their own custom car audio system and choose each component separately. 15 inch car subwoofers are a popular size for many vehicle owners because they are not too big or too small and they provide incredible sound quality and the bass you want. There are other sizes available but for most the 15 inch is the most practical, affordable and useful.

There are many brands that make 15 inch car subwoofers such as Kicker and Alpine, for example. The price is going to vary depending on the manufacturer and features of the item. For around $84 Kicker has a Single Ohm subwoofer, this product is recommended for use with an amplifier which will drive up costs. As previously mentioned, some 15 inch car subwoofers come with the amplifier as part of the setup.

Choosing the Best Car Subwoofers

When looking for the best car subwoofers, there are some things you should know. There are two main types of subwoofers, passive and powered. It is very simple to understand the different kinds. Passive subwoofers require an external amplifier, or amp for short, to be hooked up. Powered subwoofers come complete with the amplifier. The type you should choose depends on whether you are creating a totally customized system or not. Some people want to choose their own amp, others prefer the one that is built into the subwoofer.

One way to shop around for the best car subwoofers is to use the Internet. There are comparison shopping sites and search engines where you can input your criteria, such as a brand name, subwoofer size or price range for example.
